2025 Chevy 2500 HD soft topper review

"The product is exactly what I needed for my truck. Having the flexibility to fold the topper down for more hands on work but also having the ability to protect my cargo from the elements is exactly what I needed for my daily driving. The only notes I have is the install. The videos and instructions provide make it seem as if the product is a simple “30” min install…that is not exactly accurate. Putting the railings and frame together is easy work, the time consuming aspect is the canopy. Stretching and snapping the canopy seems almost impossible and it makes you feel like you are going to break your topper. The solution that I found that worked for my truck was dropping the frame down to the lowest sitting on the pins that are located in the middle of your bed frames. That lowered the canopy enough to snap the canopy on. Minus the installation process, I have enjoyed the product. I have slept, worked, and allowed my child, nephew and niece play out of the bed with the full comfort of the topper. I think if the “how-to” videos and the instructions were more updated and transparent about the installation process I would give this product a 5-star rating."

"finally got a chance to put my softopper on. was very easy to install, is very solid and made good. oh yea and looks good. covered the truck bed perfect, it gave me a lot more room to take on our bear and elk hunt in sept. sprayed it with a water hose no leaks"

Zipper fell off. Easy fix, but frustrating.

"Looks sharp and is functional. My only complaint is that it’s a bit more complicated than opening and closing a fiberglass topper and one zipper fell off after only opening and closing about a dozen times. Waited too long for it and been too busy to fix it. I’m sure I can get it back on but for the price I don’t think it should’ve happened this soon."

I like it. a few issues

"I like it. a few issues that i had were I had to clean out some of the pre drilled holes because they were off a little bit. One of the snaps was off so it didnt stay snapped and the conapy has frayed some. I had yo move a snap over. Overall the product is working great. I ordered the sealing kit but never recived it but was charged for it."

Q&A

Does it come with a storage bag and how large is the package for storage? GMC Sierra 1500
Hey Chase! The Softopper does not come with the boot cover, it is an added accessory. When retracted the Softopper is very compact, due to the fact that you can storge the canopy and frame as one piece. You can see an image of this on the boot cover page on our website. If you have trouble finding it, please let us know, we would be happy to email you a few photos!
Does the back panel come with it or is that extra?
All of our Softoppers come standard with clear windows in the front and the back for our standard vinyl. Our Premium Black Twill Softoppers come standard with a dark tinted window in the back and a clear window up front. Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
Does the “Standard” order come with a clear rear panel or do you need to customize your order to get a clear rear panel?
Our standard vinyl canvas comes with clear vinyl windows in the front and back! However, we have other panel options that are sold separately. They are very easy to swap in and out using the zippers on the sides and hook & loop fastener along the top.
does this work with other soft covers?
The Softopper is designed to work on its own however, it is compatible with a few different bed racks. It will not work with tonneau covers. If you have a specific product in mind, we would be happy to look into it and check its compatibility.

The Softopper installs in minutes with custom clamps without any permanent modifications required. No drilling needed. Non-adhesive weather stripping provides waterproofing for your entire truck bed. It takes one person mere seconds to remove your Softopper entirely and folds flat for quick, easy storage in any space.  

Modular and Versatile
Customize your Softopper for how you work and play. In addition to the fully open and fully closed configurations, the canopy’s side panels and rear window roll up for easy access. No more crawling through the bed to get to gear up front. It’s also dog friendly. Open up the sides and give your pal plenty of air with protection from the sun and rain. Replaceable clear vinyl windows provide complete visibility through your truck bed.

Quality/Durability
Made in North America from the highest quality materials. A rust-free, anodized aluminum frame supports a 2-Ply, laminated PVC-coated canopy. The canopy is waterproof, UV, rot and mildew resistant, and is incredibly easy to clean. This 4-season sailcloth shrugs off beating sun, pouring rain, heavy snow and hurricane-force winds. Uses heavy duty #10 YKK zippers. The non-adhesive weather stripping protects your entire truck bed. And all parts are user replaceable.
